We are reading a story titled A Package for Mrs. Jewls. Your child will be coming home with a reading packet once in a while and must bring the packet back the next day to continue working. All spelling words, vocabulary words and grammar sheets are contained in this packet. Things we will be working on from this story:
Genre: Humorous Fiction
EQ: How do we figure out point of view and how does it effect the storyline?
Science Connection: Gravity
Grammar: Subjects/Predicates, Complete sentences
Kuwait Social Studies
Students all have a 5 page packet with Activities for KSS. Students should keep very good care of these packets, specifically not misplacing them.
A misplaced packet will need to be replaced by the students themselves. Students should borrow a packet and photocopy it on their own time.
Important Dates:
October 21st: Over Eid break students should be completing the Kuwait Social Studies (KSS) Packet of Activities.
We will begin our unit on Native Americans and will concentrate on the Native Americans of the Northwest and the Native Americans of the Plains, their natural resources, customs, and technology. We will be having a Potlatch Invitation on Thursday, Oct. 31 at which we will invite our neighbors from 5-2 to our room to exchange gifts, followed by a Native American story. Your child will be bringing home a study guide for the upcoming Native American test which will tentatively be on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
